New Trailer for Anna Biller’s 35mm Horror-Thriller ‘The Love Witch’

Inspired by vintage hour movies and Technicolor thrillers writer/director Anna Biller’s new 35mm horror-thriller THE LOVE WITCH is soaked in plenty of inventiveness and artistic style and manages to blend together elements of noir, giallo, arthouse and good old fashioned Hitchcockian thrills. And now the trailer for this gorgeously shot piece of 60’s and 70’s exploitation homage has arrived and you can check it out below.

THE LOVE WITCH is about a modern-day witch who uses spells and magic to get men to fall in love with her. The movie, both written and directed by Anna Biller, stars Samantha Robinson, Gian Keys, Laura Waddell, Jeffrey Vincent Parise, Jared Sanford and Robert Seeley. The movie manages to reference plenty of classic horror movies and inspiration has been garnered from a back catalogue of richly sourced cult horror such as HORROR HOTEL, THE WICKER MAN, THE BIRDS and Joseph Losey’s SECRET CEREMONY.

“The Love Witch” [is] an expert recreation of 60s/70s exploitation fare seen in grindhouses of the time. It’s almost like a Russ Meyer directed version of BLOOD ORGY OF THE SHE DEVILS written by Joe Sarno.  I felt like eating the Technicolor visuals with a spoon and when the first Ennio Morricone cue began, well, I was in heaven.” – Alan Jones, UK Frightfest

“If you take the early films of Tinto Brass and spice it up with the incidental humor of “Blood Feast”, then you get “The Love Witch”. Don’t miss out if you get the chance to see it!” – Film Bizarro

“The major discovery of Rotterdam 2015 is American Anna Biller. Biller presented her world premiere “The Love Witch,” a joyous remix of the giallo of Dario Argento and the codes of softcore porn.” – The Voice of Galicia

“Stunning. This feels like a CROWN INTERNATIONAL film meshed with THE VELVET VAMPIRE or MARY, MARY BLOODY MARY. Maybe a bit of Dan Curtis in there. It’s almost too much to process. Every beat of THE LOVE WITCH is perfect.” – Chris Alexander
