News of The Twelve Book Launch

Fango attended author Tom Kennedy’s launch party and signing for his supernatural horror novel THE TWELVE Wednesday night at the swanky Citizen Smith in the heart of Hollywood, CA. While there, we chatted up the author to get his thoughts on not only the book’s release, but on other horrific projects he’s got up his sleeve.

Said the the 52-year-old author while inscribing this writer’s copy of THE TWELVE (“The Devil made me do it!” was his inscription, for those curious), “I’m planning to do the very first global book-signing! I’m going to sign THE TWELVE for two hours in a major city on each of the six continents, and the whole thing will take—of course—only 12 hours.”

A physical impossibility, yes, but Kennedy reveals that he has paired with the Toronto-based Long Pen company to make this unique tour a virtual reality. Utilizing the firm’s software and hardware, he’ll be able to personally inscribe, via light pen, copies for anyone who attends the events, all from the comfort of his own home with a robotic arm duplicating his John Hancock on the other side. Cool stuff, right? It gets even better when the author reveals that in addition to such metropolises as Sydney, Tokyo, London, Rio De Janeiro and New York City, he’s planning on staging a virtual signing in Baghdad, Iraq, as well as one aboard the American destroyer USS Cole, scheduled to be patrolling the waters of the Persian Gulf at the time.

With the tour planned for March, Kennedy (who has served previously as a Hollywood screenwriter, director, producer and MGM studio exec) tells us that in the interim he’s keeping busy “working on the second book in this series of three, entitled THE KEEPERS. After a disastrous event, ‘the keepers’ of the book come to claim it, and all will be called back to fight this new challenge.”

In addition, Kennedy is penning the short stories “Smoker” (a crime drama) and “Mold Man,” both of which he plans to make into short films. The latter, which is a horror tale, revolves around “homeowners who discover mold in their houses, and when they call in an ‘expert,’ he turns out to be a wack-job who terrorizes the families.” On the feature-film front, Kennedy says he’s just completed a script entitled BERNIE AND LEROY with comedian Alonzo Bodden, “who was the winner of LAST COMIC STANDING. It’s a ghostly comedy about and old Jewish spirit who haunts an apartment in the South Bronx where a college student lives.”
