    No More Horror for Samaire

Looking back on the films that are considered classics in our genre, I wonder if maybe actresses were just tougher back in the day. More and more reading interviews with female stars from recent horror films saying they want to stay out of the genre for good after their next scary movie. So you don’t want a built-in fanbase and the chance to ride one pivotal role for the rest of your career? Well, I guess that second one isn’t too appealing to most actors.

A recent article on Sci Fi Wire features an interview with Stay Alive star Samaire Armstrong, who says she will never, ever do a horror movie again. “I’m really serious. I will NEVER do one again. I don’t see any conditions or circumstances that could change my mind about that,” she swears.

Other than Alive and an earlier role in the Kane Hodder werewolf flick DarkWolf, Armstrong will be appearing later this year in the Ghost House Pictures release of Rise alongside Lucy Liu, but she says that’s enough horror for her lifetime. “I first said, ‘Where’s my scary movie? My Halloween?’ But then you get to the point where you do too many seances or play with the Ouija board, and that’s enough.” Wow, what a chicken.

I kid. I don’t know what’s involved in getting in the right “place” emotionally to be in a horror movie, but maybe today’s stars are just taking it all too seriously, you know? It’s all good fun for us fans, so why not the same for the stars?

Stay Alive opens on March 24th and Rise is due out later this year, but for Armstrong, it’s back to life on “The OC.”
