A few months back it was reported that Paramount were on the search for a high-level director to “tackle the material” involved in a potential ‘Pet Sematary’ remake. The redo of the Mary Lambert helmed horror from 1989, based on the novel by Stephen King, may just have scored such a director. Reports are that French director Alexandre Aja is being lined up by the studio to take on such directorial duties as long as his schedule will allow it. He’s definitely no stranger to the realm of remakes already with ‘Piranha 3D’, ‘The Hills Have Eyes’ and ‘Mirrors’ under his belt. That coupled with a ready to roll script from Matt Greenberg (‘1408’) we think the man is right for the project.
Here’s the plot from the 1989 original:
“The Creed family has moved to a nice little community, but shortly after the move, their son is killed. Grief-stricken, the father fins out that there is a cemetery where you can bury your loved ones, and they can come back to life. He takes his son to this place, and he is brought back. It seems all is well again, until the son kills a person. That is where the father learns , “Not everything that comes back is the same.” Now, he has to find a way to stop his son before he kills the whole town.”
