The Best ‘War Boys’ in Film

By Horror Asylum on October 1, 2015 News

Grotesque groups, fearless gangs and faithful families, war boys are a powerful force to be reckoned with, enough to add terror to any world.  To celebrate the glorious release of MAD MAX: FURY ROAD on Blu-Ray™ 3D, Blu-Ray, DVD and 4 film anthology from 5th October we’re looking at some the most twisted, grotesque and fearless gangs that we’ve seen in film.

    The Hills Have Eyes
A group of murderous mutants, who live far away from civilisation in the desert, seem to be in the right place at the right time when an idyllic family travelling the southwest of America break down. Purposely being led down the wrong turn, the family have unknowingly entered a gruesome massacre against a gang of twisted inhabitants.

    Wrong Turn
The result of generations of in-breeding, grotesque cannibalistic mountain men are found lurking in the remote woods of West Virginia. Hunting down a group of six people, there is an abundance of gore as the men gruesomely attack anyone they can lure into the woods. What enters the woods never leaves, with outrageously savage methods keeping them in there.

    Doomsday
After “The Reaper Virus” infects Scotland, the world has to face infected mutated beings with no way to cure them. Twenty-seven years later in 2035 London when fear emerges that the virus is back with a vengeance, medical researchers lead by Major Eden Sinclair set out to try and find a cure. Running into to two types of survivors: marurades and medieval knight’s, bow and arrows and horses make the fight for a cure as gruesome as the virus itself.

    The Lost Boys
After moving to a new town plagued by some mysterious deaths, two brothers quickly become unsure of their surroundings and end up fighting a gang of young vampires. Battling vampires and ghouls that have been drained of human blood, there have superhuman speed and senses to conquer. Up against elongated canines that can rip any unwanted prey to pieces, the fight for survival is deadly.

    Chappie
When the South African government purchases an army of state-of-the-art attack robots, danger strikes as several set out to programme the robots for their own use. Stealing one of the damaged robots, developer Deon opens himself up to a world of danger and is kidnapped by a group of gangsters who threaten to kill him unless he re-programmes the robot for their use. Thugs unwilling to relent until they have the money they owe, the group are prepared to use all kinds of violence and betrayal to get what they need.

    A Clockwork Orange
Lead by charismatic delinquent Alex DeLarge, a small gang of thugs, or as Alex refers to them ‘his droogs’, have no choice but to face the “ultra-violence” ahead. Stealing, beating the elderly and fighting rival gangs any opposition is dealt with through aggressive attacks, and when the gang turn against Alex they are quick to get a taste of their own medicine.

    The Warriors
It’s 1979 and a charming leader has summoned the street gangs of New York in a bid to take over the city. The fight results in his death, and once The Warriors are falsely blamed they must fight their way home while every other gang is fearlessly out to kill them. Crossing the dangerous Manhattan territories it’s not just the gangs that The Warriors have to escape.

    Mad Max
Servers of Immortan Joe, the war boys are picked at a young age and remain completely loyal, blindly following their leader and never asking questions. Suffering a terminal disease, death is no fear of theirs, and would be nothing but a service to their faithful leader. Brought up as mechanics they have a personal attachment to their vehicles, and spend their time lusting over the madness on the horizon.
