‘Looper’ is the new sci-fi effort from writer/director Rian Johnson. Johnson you may recall helmed the 2006 the superb noir nod mystery thriller ‘Brick’ which starred Joseph Gordon-Levitt (‘Inception’). Well Joseph is back starring in this futuristic time-travel action thriller alongside the likes of Bruce Willis (’12 Monkeys’), Emily Blunt (‘The Adjustment Bureau’), Paul Dano (‘There Will Be Blood’), Piper Perabo (‘Carriers’) and Jeff Daniels (‘TRON: Legacy’). Two new stills have popped up on this here InterWeb giving us a taste of Gordon-Levitt’s new time-travelling hitman character Joe in the project that Johnson himself has drawn comparisons to that of ‘The Terminator’. We just hope the story will be neatly complex and thoroughly enjoyable. ‘Looper’ opens here in the UK and across the US from 28 September and you can check out the plot info and new stills below.
“In the futuristic action thriller Looper, time travel will be invented – but it will be illegal and only available on the black market. When the mob wants to get rid of someone, they will send their target 30 years into the past, where a “looper” – a hired gun, like Joe (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) – is waiting to mop up. Joe is getting rich and life is good… until the day the mob decides to “close the loop,” sending back Joe’s future self (Bruce Willis) for assassination.”
