VIPCO & BayView Entertainment have the thrilling What Is Buried Must Remain scheduled for release to Blu-ray (Region FREE) in the USA on 26th September 2023.

Lighthouse Peace initiative and 2 Red Rabbit Films have the pleasure to present its new production, What is Buried Must Remain. It is a Supernatural Drama/Horror feature film directed by Elias Matar.

Set in present day Lebanon, What Is Buried Must Remain is a modern ghost story with ancient roots. Three young filmmakers are set out to make a documentary about a French industrialist, accused of murdering his family, until they find themselves confronted by supernatural forces engaged in war for the very soul of the land. This film is the product of a fruitful collaboration between Syrian refugees filmmakers who are joined by professional Lebanese filmmakers and thus have created a healing process for the people through the art of cinema.

For four years, Syrian American filmmaker Elias Matar has taught filmmaking to a group of dedicated Syrian Refugees and vulnerable Lebanese youth at the Lighthouse Peace Initiative, Manara center in Beqaa Valley. The cast and crew of What Is Buried Must Remain is primarily made up of a group of young students. Due to the uncertainty of their future, this project has been made to give them strength to carry on and keep up the hope. Through this horror movie, these courageous and young amateur actors/filmmakers have survived horrific violence and despair, and poured their hearts into a story about ghosts and murder with the backdrop of violence.

In an illustration of art and an imitation of life, the despair and fear of these actors and filmmakers are shown throughout their daily life and deepen their performances with nuances and a deeper meaning.

The film screened in many genre film festivals in the United States and Europe such as the prestigious Harlem international film Festival and Portland horror film festival. The film also screened at US Shockfest Film Festival, UK Soho Horror Film Festival and Abertoir Horror Festival.

    The film has won:

Best Feature Film and Best Director at the Hotel Horror Film Festival.

Best Feature Film at the Crypticon Seattle Horror Film Festival.

Best Horror Film at the Gen Con Indy Film Festival.

Best Feature Film at the Portland Horror Film Festival.

Audience Award for Best Feature Film at the Unnamed Footage Festival.
