As we commented yesterday the visual goodies tied to the forthcoming release of ‘Carrie’ are ramped up and hitting us from all angles at the moment in spite of the fact that it’s still 6 months out. I mean there are films not even yet released theatrically that’ll be on DVD and Blu-ray before this Kimberly Peirce re-adaptation comes knocking. Chloe Moretz (‘Dark Shadows’) gets sticky and caked in more pigs blood in a newly revealed poster highlighting the iconic look from that of the troubled telekinetic teen. Based on the original novel by Stephen King and most likely unconsciously lifting from the 1976 original the redo is due this coming October. Julianne Moore (‘Hannibal’), Portia Doubleday (‘Youth in Revolt’), Alex Russell (‘Chronicle’), Ansel Elgort, Judy Greer (‘The Village’) and Gabriella Wilde also star in the remake. Head below to take a gander at the new one-sheet provided by Empire.
“The quiet suburb of Chamberlain, Maine is home to the deeply religious and conservative Margaret White and her daughter Carrie. Carrie is a sweet but meek outcast whom Margaret has sheltered from society. Gym teacher Miss Desjardin tries in vain to protect Carrie from local mean girls led by the popular and haughty Chris Hargenson, but only Chris’ best friend, Sue Snell, regrets their actions. In an effort to make amends, Sue asks her boyfriend, high school heartthrob Tommy Ross, to take Carrie to prom. Pushed to the limit by her peers at the dance, Carrie unleashes telekinetic havoc.”
‘Carrie’ opens in US theatres from 18 October 2013.
