President of HBO programming, Michael Lombardo, has announced that hit vamp drama series ‘True Blood’has been picked up for a seventh season set to premiere in the Summer of 2014. The show is currently in the middle of its sixth season and is already pulling in more than 10 million viewers per episode making the decision to renew clearly a simple one. The series, which will see exec producer Brian Buckner return once more as showrunner, stars Anna Paquin -below (‘Scream 4’), Alexander Skarsgård (‘Battleship’), Ryan Kwanten and Stephen Moyer. “‘True Blood’ remains a signature show for HBO, and a true phenomenon with our viewers,” stated Lombardo. “Thanks to Brian Buckner and his talented team, the show continues to be a thrill ride like nothing else on TV.”
“The series follows Sookie Stackhouse, a barmaid living in Louisiana who can read people’s minds, and how her life is turned upside down when the Vampire Bill, walks into her place of employment two years after vampires ‘came out of the coffin’ on national television.”
