Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton, the writing/directing team behind gory horror ‘The Collector’ and follow-up sequel ‘The Collection’, have sold their pitch to adapt horror book series ‘Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark’. The franchise authored by Alvin Schwartz features a whole variety of scary tales, folklore and urban legends all adapted by Schwartz over a series of 3 terrifying books. CBS Films have acquired the idea from the duo and will team with 1212 Entertainment and the Sean Daniel Company, who optioned the rights, to produce a feature based on the stories whereby “a group of outcast kids who stand up to their fears to save their town when nightmares come to life.”
Of course Dunstan and Melton also co-penned the last 4 installments in the ‘Saw’ franchise.
