Dimension Films and Blumhouse Productions’ ‘The Amityville Horror: The Lost Tapes’ has not only had a welcome title change to the more succinct and appealing ‘Amityville’ but now comes with an official release date also. The studio has announced a 2 January 2015 release for the new Casey La Scala and Daniel Farrands written/directed feature based around the classic horror tale. It’s a long way off just yet and not all the details have been officially revealed but Jason Blum of Blumhouse is on board to help produce so we can take solace in the fact that we should expect at least a little bit of genre quality.
“An ambitious female television news intern, on the verge of breaking the most famous haunted house case in the world, leads a team of journalists, clergymen and paranormal researchers into an investigation of the bizarre events that will come to be known as “The Amityville Horror”… only to unwittingly open a door to the unreal that she may never be able to close.”
