LEMORA & BUBBA W/DIRECTORS IN TEXAS
If your appetite to check out Richard Blackburns hard-to-see vampire film LEMORA: A CHILDS TALE OF THE SUPERNATURAL (pictured) has been whetted by our retrospective in Fango #228 (now on sale) and you cant wait for the Synapse Films DVD coming later this yearand youre in Texascatch the movie at a special screening at the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema Village in Austin, TX on Saturday, October 25 at 7:30 p.m. The movie, starring Cheryl (later Rainbeaux) Smith in her first starring role and Lesley Gilb, will be shown with director/co-writer/actor Blackburn in attendance. As a special treat, the feature will be preceded by episodes of the animated PLANET OF THE APES TV series, for which Blackburn did voiceover work!
In addition, the Drafthouse Cinema Village is hosting the Texas premiere of Don Coscarellis BUBBA HO-TEP, which has been winning large audiences in its limited release across the country. BUBBA begins Friday, October 24, with Coscarelli and Joe R. Lansdale, who wrote the short story on which the film is based, on hand for the evening, along with a live musical Elvis tribute.
