LOST BOYS REMAKE NABS NEWCOMER
About.com talked to rising newcomer Greg Cipes about the slew of films he has coming up. Firstly, Ring of Darkness. Its like a current day Lost Boys with a little spin on it. And these zombies have been around for all this time and they go switching from band to band. They wind up killing all these people at this big 2004 sold out concert, tour party. That winds up being it for me. Im over all the violence and all the killing and all this stuff and they want to chasting me up on this island and they want to kill me. My sisters played by Ryan Starr. The way it was written, the way its coming off, it kind of looks like a current day Lost Boys kind of vibe to it. Like the enchantment of vampires and the way they can pull people in and the way they suck the world in and the way they live on forever by taking other peoples souls and keep living on.
Hes also doing a voice for Pixars Nigel Project. Actually, we havent even started doing the voice sessions yet. It takes two and a half years to complete the film. I think they started animating about a month ago when I first booked the role. Then, I think theyre recording Nicolas Cage right now. They do us separate, and then they bring us together. Its definitely a different situation than Ive usually worked with with animation, which is cool.
And Club Dread? Basically Bill Paxton is like the Jimmy Buffet of the world and he owns this island called Pleasure Island. Kids from all around the world come over there to party. Its written by Broken Lizard so its off the wall funny, but youre going to be seeing girls get their heads cut off and youll be laughing.
I play one of the guests on the island and were getting chased by this murderer. How does the Broken Lizard team work with new actors? Youre like right in the family. It was a very small cast as far as the stars of it, and its shot in Melaque which is like the southern tip of Mexico. Maybe 12, 14 stars in it and we all had our own house. We had a hot tub and pool. Basically, they bring you right into the family and they mess with you just like the way they mess with everybody else. Theyre really, really fun to work with. They mess around a lot, but they also get their work done. Theyre very efficient.
