VAN HELSING: THE VIDEO GAME
In some corporate synergy, Vivendi Universal Games has just announced that it has a VAN HELSING game, based on the upcoming Universal movie due out next May, in development. The game is scheduled to be out sometime in the spring of 2004, more than likely around the May 7 release of the film.
The third-person action game puts you in the shoes of monster hunter Abraham Van Helsing (played in the film by Hugh Jackman) who heads off to Transylvania to face the menaces of the Wolf Man, the Frankenstein Monster and Count Dracula. The makers of the game promise that key moments from the movie will be featured in the game, and that the digital story of the character will add to the cinematic one.
The game will also let players explore Castle Dracula and Castle Frankenstein and face the movie’s three main monsters plus new adversaries created specifically for the game, like stone gargoyles, banshees and fell spirits. Van Helsing will be armed with a variety of weapons including a shotgun, pistols, a gatling gun, scimitars, tojo blades and his grappling hook.
The game will be available for PlayStation 2 and Xbox owners. It was not mentioned if any of the film’s stars will provide voices for the game.
