FANGORIA TO RELEASE LAST HORROR MOVIE
FANGORIA and Bedford Entertainment have acquired the North American distribution rights to THE LAST HORROR MOVIE, director Julian (DARKLANDS) Richards disturbing new chiller. Described as Britains answer to MAN BITES DOG, LAST HORROR MOVIEs conceit is that you the viewer have just accidentally rented the authentic video travelogue of an actual serial killer named Max Parry (Kevin Howarth). Max gives us play-by-play, as we journey with him on his path of murder and bloodshed.
I was shocked and disturbed by LAST HORROR MOVIE, says Bedford president Steven Mackler, who is planning a theatrical release (the first under Fangos new theatrical banner) for the film in the U.S. early next year prior to its video debut. The images are haunting, and Kevin Howarth delivers a terrific performance as the mass-murdering psycho.
THE LAST HORROR MOVIE garnered praise at Londons Frightfest in August. James Handel’s brilliant script has a lot to say and does it without preaching or getting heavy-handed, wrote on-line critic Kevin Lyons (www.eofftv.com). Its an uncomfortable film, but a compelling one and that modern day rarity, a horror film that makes you think while scaring the hell out of you.
Adds FANGORIA editor Tony Timpone, LAST HORROR MOVIE takes HENRY: PORTRAIT OF A SERIAL KILLERs notorious home invasion scene and multiplies it by 10. You will be shocked and disturbed by LAST HORROR MOVIE, which dares us to watch. And we do, almost hypnotically.
LAST HORROR MOVIE played extraordinarily well at FrightFest, says event programmer and Fango UK correspondent Alan Jones. The audience loved it. Its one of the best British movies of this year. During the Q&A, we kept Kevin Howarth back until a planted questioner asked, Where is Max Parry now? Then Howarth as Max ran onto the stage, thrilling the entire crowd. William Castle lived in that moment. Paul Higson of THE ZONE wrote of LAST HORROR MOVIE, More inventive than MY LITTLE EYE or 28 DAYS LATER. An intense film that has an intelligent excuse for each and every horror it drops on us.
Release info for THE LAST HORROR MOVIE will be announced shortly.
