MGM READYING ANOTHER POLTERGEIST?
A rumour has appeared in Hotdog Magazine that vaguely supports some rumblings that have been heared about lately about another Poltergeist film. Here’s what they said…
Rumour has it that MGM is toying with the idea of resurrecting cursed but ultra-successful ’80s series ‘Poltergeist’ for the big screen. The new chapter would centre on the late Heather O’Rouke’s character from the original film, who’s now all grown up and trying to keep her own kids away from the telephones. The studio would be looking for a high-profile actress to headline the film if it ever gets the greenlight.
Carol Anne all grown up? I don’t know about you, but that leaves a sour taste in my mouth. Besides, I can’t imagine a fresh young actress today who hasn’t seen E!’s True Hollywood story concerning the Poltergeist curse. Would a ‘high-profile’ actress really want to slip into Heather O’Rourke’s shoes?
Just take the above rumor as utter speculation for now. It is curious that this rumor sprouts up just as the studio announced their Amityville remake.
