READY FOR HACK/SLASH
Even though we had seen the stereotypical teenage girl turn weapon-bearing ghoul ass-kicker in the cult-y Night of the Comet, Joss Whedon made television audience stand up and pay attention when his petite demon slayer graced the airwaves. No disrespect to the Slayer, but hasn’t Hollywood successfully scrambled the monster hunter concept to death?
Written by Tim Seeley and illustrated by Stallion Stefaona Casselli (?), Hack/Slash concerns a globe trotting gal who seeks out slashers and wipes them off the face of the Earth. Motivation? She’s the survivor of a slasher attack herself. Yeah, that’s a good reason.
On a sidenote, American Psycho 2 found Mila Kunis as a serial killer survivor, and Seeley’s revenge-fueled premise of Hack/Slash sounds more promising.
Hack/Slash is developing at Devil’s Due Publishing, one of the many companies behind the resurrection of ’80s pop culture icons like Voltron, Micronauts, and G.I.Joe. Due also publishes the hilariously screwed up Lovebunny & Mr. Hell which is also penned by Hack/Slash’s Seeley.
No word on when we can expect this one on shelves, but for another pic from the series, click here.
