DARK WESTERN MOVIE?

Big time producer Craig Perry will be teaming up with Zide/Perry (Final Destination 2) to bring you a dark western flick called Bounty. Sound a little like the Jeepers Creepers 3 idea, but I like it!.......

'FANGORIA caught up with producer Craig Perry on the phone last week and got updates on the horror/Western project BOUNTY, as well as another horror movie on the horizon for Zide/Perry, the producers of FINAL DESTINATION 2. BOUNTY, a dark Western about an unstoppable killer (yes, it's supernatural or it wouldn't be in this column) in the Old West pursued by an equally bad-ass bounty hunter, is set up at MGM, but as Perry explains, it may be hopping elsewhere soon.'

'We have had a little bit of a hiccup with BOUNTY,' Perry admits. 'We had difficulty reconciling how much it would cost to make the movie with what the studio wanted to make the movie for, so they have given us the opportunity to take it to other studios. Before we do that, we're trying to package it with a director and actors and I'm actually waiting for a director to call me back?he already likes it, he already wants to do the movie, so it's a function now of whether we can get the agency to secure this one actor. Then I think we'll have enough for a package. So, we'll see. It's something I'm incredibly interested in doing, because the script's a lot of fun and is something that hasn't been seen in a long time.'

'But never fear, Zide/Perry's got another horror project on the horizon that's so secret, Perry won't even tell us the title. 'I'm not even going to mention the name, but there's a book that we optioned that deals with?for lack of a better term?a haunted dollhouse in which the dolls have been designed to look just like these people who had been murdered, and the house itself is an exact replica of the house that this 17-year-old girl finds herself in,' Perry enthuses. 'What I like about that is that there's this weird hybrid between the past and the present coming into play while this girl starts to investigate this murder that had happened. She sees clues from these dolls moving on their own in the house that is exactly like the house that she's trapped in.'

'No title yet, no writer yet,' Perry replies, keeping coy. 'We just optioned the book two weeks ago, so now we're just trying to secure the 'take' we want as producers and to find a writer to bring it to bear. It's a really cool, fun idea. That one would be a PG-13, though, because you're not expecting it to be a blood fest. You're expecting it to be scary and do the things that THE RING did very well with atmosphere. It's purely about dread and 'What's in the house with me?' So, with that as our collateral, I think we'll be able to do fine.'

'Zide/Perry's newest horror offering, FINAL DESTINATION 2, hits theaters January 31.'
