CALIGARI REMAKE SLEEPWALKING
A company called Highlander Films has just announced that filming begins this week on a remake (so much for there can be only one) of the 1919 silent horror classic THE CABINET OF DR. CALIGARI. David Fisher is the writer/director on the hi-tech update of Robert Wienes German Expressionist film, in which the titular hypnotist sends a sleepwalking subject out to do his murderous bidding. Were using custom state-of-the-art digital technology and replicating the original sets inside the computer to give the illusion our players are acting inside the original movie, Fisher says. Weve already completed several computer tests, and the results are astonishing. The filmmakers are aiming to premiere the movie this Halloween.
