MEDIA BLASTERS SET FOR SHADOW
Fever Dreams, the production division of Media Blasters, is gearing up to begin filming SHADOW (tentative title), its second feature following last years FLESH FOR THE BEAST. The film is a cross between the living-dead, womens-prison and martial-arts genres, in which a new inmate at an all-female penitentiary uncovers the facilitys horrible history, which leads to an invasion of flesh-hungry zombies.
Derek Wan, the cinematographer on such classic Hong Kong actioners as Jet Lis FIST OF LEGEND, Michelle Yeohs ROYAL WARRIORS and ONCE UPON A TIME IN CHINA V, makes his U.S. directorial debut on the movie. Fangos own Michael Gingold is scripting from a story by FLESH cinematographer Richard Siegel, and promises, This movie will contain everything youd want and expect from that combination of genres, from group showers to ghoul feasting scenes, plus some gruesome surprises. Special makeup artists Brian Spears and Peter Gerner of G&S Effects are encoring from FLESH, with Toronto-based FX maestro Allan Cooke (RESIDENT EVIL: APOCALYPSE, WRONG TURN) also supplying some of the films key FX; casting is currently underway. Wan will be making a personal appearance at New York Citys American Museum of the Moving Image (35th Avenue at 36th Street, Astoria, Queens) tonight (August 24), accompanying a screening of FIST at 7 p.m.
