CHRISTMAS EVIL COMES TO SEATTLE
Lewis Jacksons 1980 killer-Santa cult classic CHRISTMAS EVIL (a.k.a. YOU BETTER WATCH OUT) will have a rare 35mm engagement at Seattles Northwest Film Forum (1515 12th Avenue) on December 17-18. Jackson will speak at the screenings and also unveil rare outtakes from the film. CHRISTMAS EVIL (see Fango #159), produced by Ed (THE CROW) Pressman, concerns a dejected toymaker (Brandon Maggart) who decides to punish those who despoil the holiday spirit.
‘This will be a wondrous event,’ says Northwest Film Forum programmer Brandon Bay. ‘Im a big fan of the film and am thrilled to have Lewis here to introduce and talk about CHRISTMAS EVIL. Youve never seen it like this!’ Jackson, meanwhile, tells Fango that hes hard at work restoring the film for a deluxe DVD reissue in 2005. ‘Ive chased down the rights and Im going after all the bootleggers,’ he says. ‘I want to put the film out again in the condition it deserves to be seen in.’
