FIRST SET VISIT FROM KONG
The MSNBC site picked up this weeks Newsweek article in which writer Jeff Giles reports from the set of Peter Jacksons KING KONG, and which includes the production art reprinted above. Among other things, the director addresses the challenge of living up to the creative and box-office success of the LORD OF THE RINGS trilogy. ‘To live the rest of your life trying to top LORD OF THE RINGS would be a foolish and unsatisfying thing to do,’ the director tells the mag. ‘So you set your sights on making a thoroughly entertaining movie so that people are not disappointed. It is highly unlikely KING KONG will ever make more money than LORD OF THE RINGS.’ Giles then reports that co-scripter Phillipa Boyens replies, ‘Hello? For the record, KONG is going to kick LORD OF THE RINGS ass! It will!’ The article also features comments by the cast and an exciting description of an animatic depicting the films climax.
