The long developing TERMINATOR 3 project continues to move forward with word that the film to come will give star Arnold Schwarzenegger his biggest paycheck ever.
According to unnamed sources talking to Variety columnist Michael Fleming, Arnold’s deal for the film will net the actor a payday of $30M. Director Jonathan Mostow will pull in over $5M. Still, the salary side of the production isn’t really of concernm to studios bidding on the project, with Intermedia handling the production side.
Now, though, bidders for the project are being told that the film will most likely cost as much as $180M, as opposed to the previously reported $170M. Still, the powers that be are looking to wrap the project at $165M. No matter, event the latter amount would make T3 the most expensive greenlighted project ever.
The latest word on who might be interested on taking on the project are Paramount, Disney, Universal and possibly DreamWorks. Each of the potential buyers is reported to have received the script with an asking price of $50M against 50% of gross receipts in exchange for domestic theatrical, TV, VHS and DVD rights.
The film’s story will be set 10 years after the events of T2 and focus on a twenty-something John Conner. Conner soon finds himself teaming up with a Arnold-style Terminator to take on a female variation, the TX Model, which has abilities beyond those seen in the T-1000 version.
