There are very few horror sequels Creature-Corner’s more charged up for than ‘Ginger Snaps 2.’ Director John Fawcett’s original lycanthrope romp resuscitated an arm of the genre that was considered, to many, roadkill. Whether you saw the signs or not, it was quite apparent ‘Ginger Snaps’ was paving the way for a sequel. And following in the footsteps of many a franchise these days, two ‘Ginger Snaps’ films are being shot back to back.
Here’s your first look at ‘Ginger Snaps 2.’
If you recall, the Creature Corner gave you a sneak peek of this revamped lycanthrope (in its earliest stage) from the KNB EFX’s shop back in January. This is the werewolf fully realized and menacing actor Brendan Fletcher (who plays Jeremy). Unquestionably this design is more ‘wolf-like’ than its predecessor designed by Paul Jones. Howard Berger (the ‘B’ in KNB) braved the chilly Canadian weather to personally care for this quadruped creation and provide numerous other effects.
The production is currently wrapping its six-week principal photography schedule this week. Young actresses Katharine Isabelle and Emily Perkins have returned for the roles of Ginger and Brigitte, respectively, this time under the direction of Brett Sullivan who served as editor on ‘Ginger Snaps.’ John Fawcett is also returning as executive producer while scribe Megan Martin replaces Karen Walton on scripting duties. Come March 31st, the ‘Snaps’ gang return to production for the third installment which serves as a prequel.
Has this exclusive wet your appetite for more? Don’t unleash the inner beast just yet, the Corner is cooking up more appetizing coverage of the ‘Ginger Snaps’ sequels in the weeks to come.
