Exodus Film Group has announced that Christian Slater, Steve Buscemi, John Cleese and Jay Leno are heading up the voice cast of its computer-animated short movie IGOR: UNHOLY FRIJOLES, which will precede the CGI feature IGOR in theaters when it’s released in 2007. Slater will speak for the title character in both the feature and the short, with the other three in talks to join him. IGOR, a homage to classic creature features, is set in the land of Malaria and focuses on the titular hunchbacked assistant (Slater) to the nasty Dr. Glickenstein (Cleese), who torments Igor and ridicules his dreams of becoming a mad scientist himself. When Dr. Glickenstein dies two weeks before the prestigious Evil Science Fair, Igor teams up with Scamper (Buscemi), a rabbit resurrected from the dead, and Brian (Leno), a cranky brain in a jar, to create a creature that will win them the first prize for Most Evil Invention. Unfortunately, the female “monster” turns out to be gentle and sweet, and Igor has to train her how to be evil before the fair arrives. Chris McKenna scripted the movie, which is executive-produced by animation veteran Max Howard.
