You’d be hard-pressed to find any good Lovecraft inspired films outside the works of Stuart Gordon, at least up until lately. Now it sees more and more smaller production companies are bringing Lovecraft’s various worlds to life via whatever means they can get their hands on, including animation.
Guerilla Productions have announced the completion of their first animated feature, The Dream Quest of Unknown Kadath, based on the story of the same name by H. P. Lovecraft that many consider to be one of his only novel-length works, now available on DVD exclusively through their site.
The tale follows Randolph Carter, a visitor in the Land of Dream, as he sets out to find the mysterious Sunset City. On the way he must battle monsters, ghouls, nightgaunts, and more foul creatures in order to get to his final destination intact. The adaptation clocks in at 100 minutes, and the DVD has a wide smattering of bonus features to sweeten the proverbial pot.
More info on the DVD is available on Guerilla’s official site, which you can dig right here.
