Variety reports that Parkpoom Wongpoom and Banjong Pisanthanakun, the creators of the Thai horror hit SHUTTER, will reteam for a new chiller called ALONE. Not much has been announced about the plot of the film, other than that it’s about a couple who arrive in Thailand from Korea to set up a new home, only for, presumably, dreadful things to happen. GMM Tai Hub, the largest Thai media group, will produce ALONE in conjunction with local independent companies Dedicate and Phenomena Motion Pictures, on a $2.5 million budget. SHUTTER, a very low-cost picture about photographic apparitions and revenge from beyond the grave, became a huge hit in its home country and has played numerous North American festivals (including Montreal’s Fantasia); U.S. remake rights were picked up earlier this year by New Regency, for Vertigo Entertainment’s Asian-horror redux specialists Roy Lee and Doug Davison to produce.
