Fango has learned that New Line Cinema’s TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE prequel (previously subtitled THE BEGINNING, but with the exact title now to be determined) began shooting in Austin, TX this week under Jonathan (DARKNESS FALLS) Liebesman’s direction. Scripted by once and future Fango columnist David J. (THE CROW) Schow and being produced by the remake mavens at Platinum Dunes, the new CHAINSAW stars Jordana (THE FACULTY) Brewster and Taylor (THE O.C.) Handley, as well as newly cast Matthew Bomer (who appears in this fall’s FLIGHTPLAN, but may be best-known for being an early front-runner for the title role of the new SUPERMAN movie) and model-turned-actress Diora (WEDDING CRASHERS) Baird. As previously announced, R. Lee Ermey and Andrew Bryniarski return from the previous film as members of the cannibal clan; so does Heather Kafka in the Henrietta role. The film opens October 6, 2006; watch for more details on this site soon.
