The Silver Nitrate company has announced that it will release Chris Fisher’s DIRTY to theaters early next year, beginning with New York and LA openings February 24 and likely followed by a national rollout. While not really a horror film, DIRTY continues in the shocking and gritty tradition of Fisher’s previous serial-killer chillers NIGHTSTALKER and RAMPAGE: THE HILLSIDE STRANGLER MURDERS (the latter coming January 10 from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment). Like those films, the new movie is based on true events, specifically the LAPD Rampart scandals in the 1990s; Cuba Gooding Jr. and STRANGLER’s Clifton Collins Jr. (pictured) play a pair of corrupt cops whom the film follows through one especially violent day. PITCH BLACK’s Cole Hauser and Keith David co-star in the film, which Fisher wrote with Gil Reavill and Eric Saks.
