Seems the info for the upcoming Masters of Horror DVDs is leaking fast and furious now. The other day we had the first bit of news, that “Cigarette Burns” and “Dreams in the Witch House” would be out on March 28th, but TV Shows on DVD has receieved a lot more.
Along with the relatively high asking price ($16.98 for a one-episode disc, $29 for a two-pack), the series doesn’t seem to be coming out in any particular order for whatever reason. According to the site, May 9th will see the release of Don Coscarelli’s “Incident On and Off a Mountain Road” and Mick Garris’ “Chocolate”; June 27th will have John Landis’ “Deer Woman” and Lucky McKee’s “Sick Girl”; and finally on July 18th we’ll be getting Larry Cohen’s “Pick Me Up”, Joe Dante’s “Homecoming”, and John McNaughton’s “Haeckel’s Tale”, with a three-pack out on the same day as opposed to the double coming out for the rest. The only feature the site confirmed was a commentary track by screenwriters Drew McWeeny and Scott Swan on “Cigarette Burns”.
I’m sure you’ll notice that that’s not all 13 episodes of the show, so I suppose it’s safe to assume that the rest will be coming out in August and September, which would nicely lead up to the premiere of Series 2 in October. Of course, none of this seems to be coming from Anchor Bay or parent company IDT directly, so we’ll just have to wait and see what they say in an official capacity. I’m sure we’ll be getting solid word soon enough.
