A few months back Dread Central told us that a movie adaptation of Jack Ketchum’s infamous novel The Girl Next Door was in the works from ModernCine, the same team who created Headspace.
Today they got word from Andrew van den Houten, director of Headspace and producer of The Girl Next Door, that cameras are set to roll on Girl this July; “We are in talks with an awesome director and have interest from some very recognizable talent.” He said, but unfortunately that was the limit if information he was willing to provide for now.
For a novel like this it’s going to take a director with great respect for the source material first and foremost, as well as a clear definition of the line between realistic violence and exploitation.
In Headspace news, the film will be makings it’s international premiere at the Brussels International Festival of Fantastic Film. The film is set for a DVD debut sometime in the next few months.
