Brian De Palma’s Sisters remake has officially wrapped shooting, but we’re just now learning that cult fav director David Cronenberg will not be in the film, like originally reported. Writer/director Douglas Buck tells Fangoria, “[Cronenberg] sent me an e-mail saying he was just so exhausted from all the traveling and publicity for ‘History of Violence’ that he was just wiped out and couldn’t play the part; he said that the thought of getting on another plane made him physically ill. He sent me a very, very nice e-mail apologizing, but in the end he just wasn’t available. So we cast William B. Davis.” The film centers on a young woman who leads a disturbingly sheltered existence at the hand of her controlling psychiatrist (Stephen Rea). A nosey reporter (Chloe Sevigny), suspicious of the doctor’s motives, gets involved, leading to her witnessing a homicide.
