As major studios push into 3-D cinema, with projects including Sony’s “Monster House” and Disney’s “Meet the Robinsons,” the indies are getting into the act too.
In November, newly launched distrib Midnight Movies Entertainment rolls out on 1,500 screens a 3-D update of the George A. Romero classic “Night of the Living Dead,” called “Night of the Living Dead 3-D.”
New spin by helmer Jeff Broadstreet and scribe Robert Valding stars Brianna Brown, Joshua DesRoches and Sid Haig.
Midnight is a partnership between Berlin-based Lux Digital Pictures and the Zurich Consulting Group.
Midnight’s distribution team overseeing the horror remake includes former 20th Century Fox exec veep and general sales manager Rick Myerson, who ankled the studio last year, as well as former Fabrication Films prexy Glen Reynolds and onetime Tartan Films exec Bob Myerson.
Pic will preem at the Sept. 8 World 3-D Expo in Hollywood.
