MTV TALK TO JACKMAN
That cigar-chompin’ mutie named Wolverine is making a return in a big way via ‘X-Men 2′ and actor Hugh Jackman is making the rounds in various press outlets to plug the film. But it seems everyone wants to talk about Stephen Sommers’ ‘Van Helsing’ which, I’m sure, is driving 20th Century Fox batty.
Jackman, who’ll be donning some serious monster-smashin’ garb for his role as Professor Helsing, talked a bit with MTV about next summer’s highly anticipated horror adventure.
MTV revealed a little dirt of their own too.
Apparently, the film opens with Helsing trailing Mr. Hyde. Damn, yet another famous monster to join the ‘Helsing’ fray – that’s friggin’ awesome! Kevin J. O’Connor (‘Deep Rising, ‘The Mummy’) was brought aboard the project to play Igor too.
Here’s a little tidbit from the MTV interview:
‘I feel like I’m in ‘Indiana Jones,’ ‘ Jackman said. ‘That was my favorite movie as a kid, and I really feel like I’ve walked into one of those movies. [It’s got] swashbuckling, but it’s got a darkness to it, but it’s still funny. And the look of it I think it has a style to it that I’ve never really seen before. And I think the story is very intricate.’
Just to clarify, let’s lay out on a slab who is officially playing who in way of the monsters: Richard Roxburgh plays Dracula, Shuler Hensley dons electric bolts as Frankenstein’ Monster, Sam West will play Dr. Frankenstein, and Will Kemp will sprout fur as the Wolf Man.
