Fango heard from indie filmmaker Jason Horton with some info from his new anthology chiller EDGES OF DARKNESS. He describes the movie, which he wrote and directed with Blaine Cade, as “three tales of terror set against the backdrop of a zombie apocalypse: A vampire couple struggles to find food in the midst of the plague; an obsessed writer discovers his new computer processor runs off more than electricity; and an 11-year-old boy and his mother are hunted by a group of renegade priests hell-bent on distroying the child. The stories are all intercut, similar to PULP FICTION or SHORT CUTS.”
The cast of EDGES, which was produced by Stephen Kayo, includes Alonzo F. Jones, Annemarie Pazmino, Shamika Ann Franklin, Jay (BUTCHER HOUSE) Costelo, Alisha Gaddis, Wayne Baldwin, Michelle Rose, Kelly Murray and Lee (KATIEBIRD) Perkins. Tom (Fango Video’s JOSHUA) Devlin and 1313fx created the special makeup, with James Bills serving as cinematographer. “Blaine and I are both Katrina refugees, and we moved to Los Angeles right after the hurricane,” Horton tells Fango. “We previously worked together on RISE OF THE UNDEAD, another zombie movie, and EDGES OF DARKNESS was shot in LA in February. No big names, no big money, just a bunch of horror fans making the kind of movie we want to see. It’s the first feature I’ve heard of to feature zombies, vampires and the Antichrist. It’s a lot of fun.
“I met Tom Devlin and Jay Costelo while working on BUTCHER HOUSE, where I was shooting EPK footage,” Horton continues. “I later DP’d Tom’s first feature as a producer, LEGEND OF THE SANDSQUATCH. We haven’t signed a deal for EDGES OF DARKNESS yet, but are talking with several distributors. Hopefully we’ll be released by the summer.” In the meantime, you can see a teaser trailer at the movie’s official website here and another at its MySpace page here.
