Variety reports that the Guy Walks Into a Bar company has picked up the movie rights to DreamCatcher Interactive’s supernatural video game PAINKILLER. The first-person shooter, originally a 2004 PC title that was followed by PAINKILLER: HELL WARS for the Xbox last year, focuses on a mercenary who winds up in purgatory and agrees to serve heaven by going on missions to eradicate creatures from hell. Jon Berg and Todd Komarnicki will produce the film, which is being scripted by Ben McCaw, an Austin Film Festival screenwriting competition finalist for GIDEON’S VAULT who has also penned the intriguingly titled CLASS OF THE LIVING DEAD. No director has been signed yet.
