After spending 10 years in development hell, Fox and Chris Carter are kicking this production into overdrive. Just last week, they announced a December 10 production start date. The Hollywood Reporter has now announced that Fox has set a release date, reporting that the long awaited X-FILES 2 will hit theaters on July 25, 2008. Frank Spotnitz and Chris Carter developed the script while series creator Carter will get behind the camera in directing David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson. The storyline is being reported as a supernatural thriller.
Plot Concept: All that is being revealed is that it is a “supernatural thriller” and that the movie will take the complicated relationship between FBI agents Fox Mulder (Duchovny) and Dana Scully (Anderson) in unexpected directions as Mulder continues on his quest for the truth and Scully remains inextricably tied to her partner’s pursuits.
X-FILES 2 hits theaters everywhere July 25, 2008.
