As reported by various sources, Sir Anthony Hopkins of the Hannibal Lecter film series has joined the cast of Universal’s big-budget remake of THE WOLF MAN, starring Benicio Del Toro and due in 2009. Hopkins will play the father of Del Toro’s title character, a part originally essayed by Claude Rains in the 1941 classic. But this time, the character will go the lycanthrope route (like father, like son), which Rains never endured. “It’s great fun,” Hopkins told USA Today yesterday. “I’m Wolf Man Sr. I don’t know how they’re going to transform us, but it’s a great script.”
Hopkins “appears” in Robert Zemeckis’ BEOWULF motion-capture film, opening November 16; watch for a preview on this site soon.
