Sony Pictures Home Entertainment sent along the cover art and specs for its January 1 DVD release of RESIDENT EVIL: EXTINCTION, the third in the Milla-Jovovich-kicks-zombie-butt film series. The anamorphic widescreen transfer with Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround sound will be accompanied by the following extras:

Retail price is $28.95. Also available will be a Blu-ray edition containing the exclusive Under the Umbrella: Picture-in-Picture Experience feature, in which filmmaker/cast interviews, production stills and art and behind-the-scenes footage runs concurrently with the film. Plus, the Blu-wizard 2.0 function will allow to create your own Special Features playlist and even remember which portions you liked after you’ve taken the disc out of the player! Is it just us, or is the new technology becoming just a little scary? Retail price for the Blu-ray is $38.96, and Sony is also issuing all three RESIDENT EVIL movies in that format in a boxed set for $89.95. Finally, EXTINCTION will be additionally available on UMD for the PSP for $24.94.
