MovieHole reports:
Peter Sarsgaard (“The Skeleton Key”, “Shattered Glass”) has been snapped up to headline er, the new Joel Silver/Dark Castle horror flick “Orphan”.
Sounds like someone’s fearing a mid-08 SAG strike, hey? I mean… to follow in Paris Hilton and Taye Diggs’s footprints, Sarsgaard should not. He’s better than this. I’m sure there’s a better vehicle out there for him than a cheesy horror film we know – based on the Dark Castle back catalogue – is going to bite blue balls. But then, I said the same about Hilary Swank and somehow – I’m guessing bits of paper with green colouring – Joel Silver got her to do “The Reaping”, too. Anyone can be purchased, it seems, if the price is right. Especially when there’s an actors strike looming.
Worst of all, “Orphan” is to be helmed by Jaume Collet-Serra – who directed the god-awful “House of Wax” remake, starring Paris Hilton and Elisha Cuthbert, a couple of years ago.
This one revolves around a husband and wife (Sarsgaard and Vera Farmiga) who lose a baby and then adopt a 9-year-old girl who is not nearly as innocent as she claims to be. David Leslie Johnson penned the screenplay, which is based on a story by Alex Mace.
Shooting is scheduled to begin next week in Toronto and Montreal.
