Turkey Ranch Productions passed on the cover art and info on THE CARETAKER, which the company is releasing to DVD February 14.
Directed by Bryce Fredrick Olson and scripted by Jackie Olson, the movie co-stars Judd Nelson, Jennifer (SEED OF CHUCKY) Tilly and Jonathan (JEEPERS CREEPERS) Breck in the story of a group of high-school guys who try to scare their girlfriends by taking them to an abandoned house at an isolated orchard and telling them the story of the titular urban legend. Needless to say, the night ends up more frightening than they anticipated. The cast of “ridiculously good-looking kids,” per the company, also includes Kira Verrastro, James Immekus, Jennifer Freeman, Andrew St. John, Diego J. Torres, Victoria Vande Vegte, Lola Davidson, Will Stiles, Rene Ashton and Shawn Andrews; Nelson plays a creepy, overprotective father, Tilly is an outrageous teacher who wants to sleep with one of her students and Breck is a crazy limo driver.
THE CARETAKER apparently aims more for humor than outright horror, as Allison Wilke, who produced it with Brynn McQuade and Jackie Olson, says, “It’s refreshing to be working on a fun genre picture with good scares, a lot of laughs and not too much gore.” Jim (IN THE MOUTH OF MADNESS) Lang composed the score; the region-free DVD will present the movie in 1.78:1 widescreen, with 5.1 Surround audio and no special features announced. It’ll be available from the Turkey Ranch site linked above and at Amazon.com.
