Variety reports that a new Spanish horror film called ESCALOFRÍO (SHIVER) will have its world premiere at the prestigious Berlin Film Festival, in the Panorama section. Directed by Isidro (FAUSTO 5.0) Ortiz from a script he wrote with Alejandro Hernández, José Gamo and Hernán Migoya, the movie has been picked up for worldwide sales outside Spain by the new Coach 14 company.
Young actor Junio Valverde stars as Santi (the same name as his character in Guillermo del Toro’s THE DEVIL’S BACKBONE), a boy who moves with his mother to a new town in the mountains, whereupon strange events begin to occur and he becomes the key suspect. To clear his name, Santi has to uncover a dark secret in the surrounding woods. Mar Sodupe, Francese Orella, Roberto Enriquez and Andrés Herrera also star; the film’s Spanish-language official website (with animated storyboards and more) can be found here.
