Owners of all-region DVD players take note: writer/producer Dennis Bartok got in touch with Fango to give them the lowdown on the overseas bow of his multidirector horror anthology TRAPPED ASHES. “I just learned that the first disc release of the film hits the streets—in Germany of all places—this Friday, January 25 through Koch Media,” the filmmaker tells Fango, “and I thought you’d get a kick out of seeing the artwork they did up —which definitely hits the ‘grindhouse’ angle, right down to the weathered look!”
Bartok further informs that the disc will feature “English or German audio options, with German subtitles—now that will be a blast!” Extras include “the film’s trailer, cut for us by Joe Dante [who helmed the anthology’s wraparound sequence, joining segment directors Ken Russell, Monte Hellman, Sean Cunningham and John Gaeta] and about 55 minutes of interviews with the directors, cast and crew, as well as behind-the-scenes footage.”
Unfortunately, Stateside horror fans will need to remain patient (“The U.S. release through Lionsgate isn’t scheduled until early summer,” Bartok reveals), though the Region 2 release can be pre-ordered at the German Amazon.com here.
