Another one of those ‘on the back burner’ projects that we haven’t heard from for quite some time is the adaptation of the supernatural tv show that aired in the 60’s, ‘Dark Shadows’. Johnny Depp was attached back then and finally an update on the project has come to light. None other than Tim Burton is now on board to direct!
IESB.net are reporting that Burton, along with ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’ screenwriter John August are both now officially involved in the rehash. Depp’s Infinitum-Nihil and GK Films are co-producing and although Depp himself was showing interest in playing Barnabas Collins, the vampire patriarch of the series, that hasn’t officially been confirmed as yet.
‘Dark Shadows’ spawned over 1225 episodes over the years and was a highly atmospheric, spooky soap that featured gothic horror staples like vampires, monsters, witches, werewolves, ghosts and zombies.
