Guillermo del Toro will be teaming up with Miramax to produce a remake of ‘Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark’, the made for TV movie from 1973. Del Toro will scribe the movie along with Matthew Robbins. The project is to be helmed by Troy Nixey, a comic artist/writer.
The original story followed a married couple who move into an inherited Victorian mansion. Once there they accidentally unleash demonish creatures who terrorize them during their stay. Del Toro’s vision is expected to instead focus on a young girl sent to live with her father and his girlfriend.
JoBlo are reporting that the project is in the very early stages and could be in development for some time.
