Director David Gordon Green has bene signed up by Overture Films to helm the upcoming adaption of the Steve Niles (’30 Days of Night’) graphic novel ‘Freaks of the Heartland’. Overture recently purchased the rights to the Dark Horse novel.
Steve Niles’ six-part 2004 series is about a horrible secret of a rural Middle American town that involves Trevor Owen’s attempts to protect his “monster” of a 6-year-old younger brother and Gristlewood Valley’s other “freaks” from their parents’ worst instincts.
Screenwriters Peter Sattler and Geoff Davey have penned the adaption. Niles himself will be executive producing.
