‘Pride and Prejudice and Zombies’, Seth Grahame-Smith’s hugely popular (and a New York Times bestseller) walking dead novel based on Jane Austen’s literary classic, has been on the prowl for leading cast members in Mike White’s big screen movie adaption. Natalie Portman’s name was being bounced about but she’ll simply take a producing role on the project as opposed to making an appearance. But its actors Anne Hathaway and James McAvoy whom are been reportedly tapped up for the roles of Elizabeth Bennett and Mr Darcy respectively.
“The story follows the plot of Pride and Prejudice, but places the novel in an alternative universe version of Regency-era England where zombies (and indeed skunks and chipmunks) roam the English countryside. Described as the “stricken”, “sorry stricken”, “undead”, “unmentionables”, or just “zombies”, the deceased ancestors of England are generally viewed by the characters as a troublesome, albeit deadly, nuisance. Their presence alters the original plot of the story in both subtle and significant ways.”
