ASIAN HORROR FEST IN N.Y
The first annual New York-Tokyo Film Festival kicks off this weekend and I wish I could go! All sorts of goodies are awaiting for you Asian horror fans, check out the details.
Fangoria writes that, ‘Helping bring the best of Japanese cinema to America (in this case Manhattan), the New York-Tokyo Film Festival is presenting its first annual edition in the city this weekend (June 13-15). The event will take place at the swanky Tribeca Grand Hotel (2 Avenue of the Americas; call 212-519-6500). Of most interest to genre fans is the opening-night double feature of the violent jet-black comedy 2LDK (pictured) and the insane zombie-rock opus WILD ZERO; in addition, SAMURAI FICTION and Takashi Miike?s SHANGRI-LA will have their U.S. premieres at the fest, and movies by Sogo Ishii, Hideaki Anno, Hiroyuki Nakano and others, as well as the ANIMATRIX series, various shorts and assorted previews, will be screened.’
‘The fest also boasts a number of guest speakers, including FANGORIA editor Tony Timpone on Japanese horror (Friday night at 6 p.m.), as well as UZUMAKI/ICHI THE KILLER producer Dai Miyazaki and director Andy (FINAL FLIGHT OF THE OSIRIS) Jones (both Saturday). For tickets, go to www.ticketweb.com (or call 866-468-7619). For more info on the New York-Tokyo Film Festival, click here.’
