BLADE DROPS THE CURSED
Creature Corner reported today on the possibility of more potential Blade sub-titles…
‘There should be rules that come with franchise titles. If you’re going to attach a number onto a sequel, make sure the subsequent installments continue the tradition. Look at ‘Jaws.’ That series was so terrified of tossing a ‘4’ at the end of it, they just called it: ‘Jaws: The Revenge.’ What a bunch of pussies. The ‘Mission: Impossible’ series? I really don’t think there was a need to add a ‘2’ to the second film. It should’ve had a sub-title to let the folks know there’s more missions on the way for years to come, something like ‘Mission: Impossible – The Hypnotic Power of Thandi Newton’s Bod.’ Yeah, that’s it.
But I digress… ‘Blade 3’ was always an inevitability. David Goyer created a kick-ass series and now the man is going to hop in the director’s chair to ensure the series concludes the right way. But will it be called ‘Blade 3’? According to Comic Book Resources, an anonymous tip on the Yahoo! Movies site has spilled the beans claiming that the third film will be called ‘Blade: Trinity.’ Well, that’s craptastic. If there is an ounce of truth behind this, I don’t doubt for a second that the title will be dropped somewhere down the line. Remember, ‘Blade 2’ carried the sub-titles ‘Bloodpack’ and ‘Bloodhunt’ like excess baggage until the New Line marketing machine kicked off their campaign.
We’ll just have to wait and see what happens. Rumors are still circulating regarding the nature of the plot, but we’re not saying anything until we hear something official. New Line hopes to have ‘Blade 3′ (or whatever it’ll eventually be called) next year.’
