We pick up today a few news tidbits that exploded onto the web over the weekend. We would have been more efficient and relayed this killer horror info back to you guys sooner but between beer swilling, pizza chewing and horror flick watching time bled away the past few days. First off is news that the extremely busy James Wan (‘Death Sentence’) and ‘Saw’ co-creator Leigh Whannell who are working on a follow-up script to their hit horror ‘Insidious’ have revealed two notable characters who will be returning for more spooky astral projection scares. During an interview with horror site Dread Central Whannell let them know that Specs and Tucker the two geeky investigators would be returning for the sequel. Tucker was played by Angus Sampson (‘Darkness Falls’) and Whannel himself played the role of Specs.
Here’s what Whannell had to say:
“I can say that yes, my character will be seen in Insidious 2. It may probably bum a lot of people out, though, to hear this news. It’s part of the reason I don’t even read the internet message boards anymore; there was this hatred that spewed out from fans saying ‘I hated those guys! They sucked! They ruined the movie!’ so there will probably be a lot of people out there who will be disappointed to hear that the Specs and Tucker characters will be coming back.”
‘Insidious 2’ is being lined up for a 2013 release.
